Why a "Burn Prevention Day"?

NBPD Founder, Attorney Paul Samakow wanted to “do more” than help burn survivors and their families “one-by-one.” The creation of NBPD came as a result of his recognition that funding for the many organizations seeking to prevent burn injuries – from fires, scalding water, chemicals, etc. – were underfunded.

Fire Departments, Burn Camps, and even national organizations are often non-profit organizations, staffed by volunteers and gravely in need of additional funding to continue, and effectively carry out their organization’s goal of preventing burn injuries, and thus saving lives.

Moreover, funds to many organizations that help burn survivors and educate the public are sorely needed.
